Project Overview

This is a customized quartz countertop project for the entire house of a US single-family home, covering kitchen and bathroom spaces. The project involves the fabrication of a kitchen L-shaped island countertop, bathroom round basin countertops, countertops with recessed slots for functional areas, and matching shaped filler pieces. The finished products have been shipped to a US B2B residential renovation contractor client.

Project Details

Design Pattern and Suitability for the Space

The project uses pure white quartz with fine sparkle, produced locally in Thailand. The material has a clean, off-white base. Fine, shimmering particles are evenly distributed across the surface. After a glossy polish, it presents a warm, translucent visual texture with a naturally elegant matte sheen. This minimalist and timeless design perfectly suits the customer’s modern minimalist style. It seamlessly integrates into multiple spaces like the kitchen island, bathroom vanity, and laundry room worktops. It brightens the overall environment while creating a clean and relaxed atmosphere.

Precise Special-Shaped Cutting and Customized Fabrication

To meet the project’s customized requirements for a kitchen L-shaped island, bathroom round basins, and recessed appliance slots, 5-axis CNC equipment is used for high-precision cutting:

Kitchen L-shaped Countertop: A custom 2400mm x 600mm standard L-shaped top is fabricated. The 90-degree corner fit is ≤0.5mm, perfectly adapting to the integrated installation of the American-style kitchen island and cabinetry.

Bathroom Round Basin Countertop: A custom 1200mm x 550mm bathroom vanity top is fabricated, with a precisely cut 420mm diameter round basin hole. The cutout size error is controlled within ±0.5mm, fitting American-style recessed round basins.

Countertop with Recessed Slots: Based on the client’s needs for recessed appliance installation, custom multi-specification rectangular slots are created. Slot dimensions are precise with smooth edges, fitting recessed installation for appliances like ovens and dishwashers.

Shaped Filler Pieces: Additionally, various sized right-angle and shaped filler pieces are custom-made. These adapt to special positions like kitchen corners and bathroom cabinet junctions, achieving seamless connection for all countertops throughout the house.

Fine Edge and Chamfer Finishing

All countertop edges undergo a 45° chamfer combined with an 8-step fine polishing process:

Kitchen Countertops: Receive 45° bevel edge polishing, enhancing comfort and aesthetics, in line with the island’s open design.

Bathroom Countertops: Receive an R10 rounded edge finish, eliminating sharp corners to prevent bumps, complying with residential safety design standards.

Edges of special-shaped cutouts and holes: are finely finished, free of chips and burrs, ensuring installation sealing and aesthetic appeal.

Custom Cutouts and Hardware Pre-drilling

Precise cutouts are made strictly according to the basin, appliance models, and hardware installation standards provided by the client:

Round Basin Cutout: Standard Φ420mm size, error ≤±0.5mm, ensuring a seamless, watertight seal between the basin and countertop.

Hardware Pre-drilled Holes: Three Φ35mm holes for hardware (faucet, soap dispenser, drain) are pre-drilled simultaneously. Hole center distances are accurately aligned, edges are smooth and burr-free, fully compatible with the standardized installation requirements of American kitchen and bathroom hardware.

Appliance Slots: Custom precise slots are created based on appliance dimensions, fitting the integrated installation of recessed appliances.

Full Process Quality Inspection

Drawing and Special-Shaped Parameter Verification

The project CAD drawings are checked against the final products. Key parameters are verified, including the L-shaped countertop dimensions (2400mm x 600mm), 90-degree corner angle, round basin cutout size (420mm) and center distance, and recessed slot specifications. This ensures 100% of the countertops meet the client’s customized installation requirements.

Core Dimension Re-measurement

Each countertop’s length, width, and thickness are measured individually with a tape measure:

Kitchen L-shaped countertop: Total length 2400mm, width 600mm, thickness 20mm.

Bathroom countertop: Total length 1200mm, width 550mm, thickness 20mm.

All dimensional errors are controlled within ±1mm, complying with US residential renovation tolerance standards, guaranteeing zero rework during on-site installation.

Surface and Pattern Consistency Check

Special Inspection for Cutouts and Edges

A dedicated inspection is performed on the round basin cutouts, recessed slots, and L-shaped corners. The focus is on edge smoothness, ensuring they are free of burrs and chips. This guarantees a watertight seal and prevents leaks when basins/appliances are installed. The polishing precision of the 45° chamfer and R10 rounded edges is also verified to comply with residential safety standards.
